The Gleason Community Fund, a Genesee County non-profit that supports organ donor awareness, presented its first $2,500 scholarship on May 29. The award was given to Emani Davis, a senior at Swartz Creek High School, who will pursue a career in nursing at Alabama State University, Davis and five other Genesee County teens entered the Gleason Community Fund’s essay contest. The topic was the importance of organ donation. The other students included: Isabel Gould, Swartz Creek High School; Emily Powers, Flushing High School; Shelby Shaughnessy, Flushing; Abigail Schiestel, Davison High School; and Sarah Mcfadden, Flushing. All of the students were recognized by the Gleason Community Fund for their essay entries and by Genesee Health Plan.
