The Pet Press hits newsstands this week

Magazine promises fun and informative reads about furry, feathered and four-legged friends

LAPEER — View Newspaper Group is proud to announce the launch of their newest print product, The Pet Press.

“Featuring articles on local pets throughout Lapeer and Genesee counties, tips on caring for pets, pet profiles, pet-related columns and much more we know readers will love The Pet Press,” said VIEW Group Brand Manager Emily Caswell, who serves as editor of The Pet Press. “More than 100 million U.S. households have a pet and I’d bet most of those households consider their pet to be a member of the family. Our team knew there was a market for a pet publication and got to work on the project about a year ago.”

Set to hit newsstands starting Tuesday, Nov. 21, 10,000 copies of the free publication will be available throughout a number of stores, offices, salons, groomers, vets twice a year in Lapeer and Genesee counties. Locations include Doogie’s in Davison, TSC stores in Lapeer, Davison, Ortonville, Flushing and Clio, All Dogs Can in Mayfield Township, Magoo’s stores in Flint, Burton and Flushing and many others.

The Pet Press has a unique size of 9 inches by 12 inches. That, along with its glossy cover, will ensure it stands out among other publications said Caswell.

“Readers can also head to our website — www.mipetpress.com — to find great content, submit their story ideas or pet profiles and find a full list of distribution locations,” said Caswell. “In addition, our team knows that The Pet Press is a great vehicle for businesses of all types to deliver their message to consumers.”

It’s estimated that in 2016 a record-breaking $66.7 billion was spent in the U.S. on pets according to the American Pet Products Association, the leading trade association in the pet industry.

“The team at View Newspaper Group is happy to be part of this great project,” said View Newspaper Group Publisher Wes Smith. “With a wealth of market knowledge, as well as a talented and award-winning team of writers, photographers and designers, there is no better organization to produce the region’s only pet publication.”

The Pet Press will produce its second edition this spring. If you have a pet-related story idea contact Caswell at ecaswell@mihomepaper.com.

“We want to tell stories about all sorts of pets,” said Caswell. “Our first issues, for example, shares the story of a family with a pet crow. We are seeking heartwarming stories of adoption, like the one I share about adopting our puppy and anything else as it relates to our furry, feathered, four-legged friends. We aim to live up to our motto: The Pet Press is Your Tails to Scales Connection.”
