FLINT TWP. — Three candidates filed for four seats on the Carman Ainsworth board of education, as of the filing deadline at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, July 26,
A Genesee County clerk office representative said the list would not be finalized until Thursday so there still is a chance for late files to appear. The listing is for the November general election.
But at press time on Tuesday, the candidates listed are Patrice Hatcher, the current board president; and trustees Lonney Jarnigin and Gary Cousins.
Hatcher and Jarnigin are seeking six-year terms. Cousins is filling a partial term that expires December 31, 2018. He was appointed last month to a seat vacated by the resignation of Laura Garrison.
A fourth seat for a partial term is shown as vacant on the county list and is set to expire December 31, 2018.
Currently missing from the list is longtime board trustee Ann Saunders whose term expires December 31, 2016. An update will be published after the county list becomes official.
