Tiebreakers decide Henrickson Award winners

ATLAS TWP. – After four of the girls and two boys in the Jack Nicklaus group tied at the end of the round during Flint Jr. Golf Association play at Atlas Valley Country Club on Monday, tiebreakers were used to decide the winners.

As FJGA’s Bill Hense described the outcome, Flushing’s Kerrigan Parks and Brooke Thomas, Davison’s Kamryn Johnston and Grand Blanc’s Cammi Lucia all carded 82s. Parks went on to claim the Henrickson Award and Flint Powers’ Madison Zloto won First Flight honors after finishing with a round of 85.

Kyle VanBoernel and Mitchell Hughes, Holly teammates, fired matching 73s. VanBoernel won the fourth-hole tiebreaker to claim his Henrickson Award. Flushing’s Derek Black won First Flight honors with a 78 and Grand Blanc’s Jack Garnett won Second Flight honors with an 80.

Next Monday, the Jack Nicklaus Group returns to regular play at the Flint Golf Club.
