Township accepts 50/50 funds from Grand Blanc Twp.

FLINT TWP. — Flint Township Board of Trustees unanimously voted to accept $13,790 in 50/50 funds from Grand Blanc Township for its upcoming Dye Road project. Supervisor Karyn Miller brought the issue to the board, saying Grand Blanc Township would not be able to use the funds by Oct. 1, allowing Flint Township to use them.

The funds from Grand Blanc Township, along with $14,600 in 50/50 funds from Thetford Township that the board accepted at its Sept. 7 meeting, will go towards the repaving and widening project of Dye Road between Calkins Road and Beecher Road. Miller said Grand Blanc Township will request the same amount back from Flint Township next year for its projects.

Also at the meeting, the board approved the resolution to offer conditional employment to three, probationary on-call fire firefighter trainee applicants.

The three individuals, Michele B. Wilson, Jesse Jarnigin and Joshua Jarnigin, completed the initial requirements set by Flint Township, which includes a medical physical and drug test said Fire Chief John Ringwelski. Once the applicants are hired, the candidates will have to successfully complete all of the training as required by the State of Michigan Firefighters Training Council.
