FLINT TWP. — On recommendation from the Road Advisory Committee, the Flint Township Board of Trustees has approved plans for seven road projects in the spring and summer of 2021.
The projects, estimated at a total of $732,000, will include neighborhood roads and well-traveled drives in the township. The following areas slated for construction include: North Utley Road from Corunna Road to Hogarth Street ($165,000); Graham Road from Corunna Road to W. Court Street ($175,000); River Valley Drive and River Birch intersection ($75,000); Hillside Drive off Beecher Road ($95,000); Westerrace Drive from Hillside Drive to Hillside Drive ($85,000); Dorellen Avenue from Corunna Road to W. Court Street ($105,000) and Bailey Street from Roslyn Avenue to Noble Avenue ($32,000).
Funding for the 2021 projects will be covered by three different revenue sources, including $330,000 from Municipal Street Funds; approximately $218,538 from Community Block Development Grant (CDBG) Funds; and approximately $183,000 from the Genesee County Road Commission’s 50/50 Allocated Funds, which require matching funds from the township.
Each of the selected projects, except for the River Valley Dr./River Birch Dr. intersection project, will include two-inch cold milling surfacing, catch basin repairs and resurfacing.
The River Valley Dr./ River Birch Dr. intersection project will include the following improvements: removal and replacement of existing concrete pavement; storm sewer and catch basin repairs; pavement subgrade modifications; and pavement replacement with eight-inch non-reinforced concrete pavement and integral curb repair. — B.G.
