— The Flint Township Board approved a location change of repairs of Dye Road asphalt and shoulder repair from Calkins Rd. to Beecher Rd. at its Aug. 9 meeting. The motion came after an initial attempt to table the decision. After motion to table was denied 2-5, with Trustees Barb Vert and Belenda Parker dissenting, Trustee Frank Kasle made the second motion to approve the project, which was passed 4-3 with Vert, Parker and Treasurer Sandra Wright dissenting.
Before the vote, Supervisor Karyn Miller told the board the project encompassed repaving on Dye Road, due to part of the drainage issues of Dyewood subdivision. The repair location change resulted in an additional cost of $33,855 due to the project now being 1,000-feet longer. Miller said she wanted to use 50/50 funds from Thetford and Argentine Townships to cover the costs of the project. Miller said Thetford Township was not using $14,593 and Argentine Township had $19,261 to give to the township for the project.
At the time of the meeting, Miller said she was still waiting for confirmation from the townships that the money would be available
