FLINT TWP. — Tracey Tucker, economic enhancement director for the township, highlighted happenings in the business community at the Feb. 20 West Flint Business Association meeting.
Tucker reported eight new businesses opening in Flint Township in January, with another 10 under construction.
New businesses in the township include: Community Threads, My Salon Suite, Von Ryan’s Furniture, Team Donahue Make Your Own Luck, Epic Flips and Fun, The Good Feet Store, Genesee County Animal Control and SVS Vision.
She noted animal control added a new portion onto its existing building at 4351 Pasadena Ave.
Currently under construction, said Tucker, are Barrett’s Donuts, U-Haul, Genesee Colorectal Center, Tru Fit, Living Wored Church of God, Ground Effects, Maximus Call Center, Modern Concrete, South Baptist Church and Aero Train.
Tucker said Maximus Call Center is creating 150 job immediately, with a total of 450 projected in the future.
Construction plans under review currently include the Admiral Station at 1135 N. Ballenger Rd., where developers are building a new store, and the Speedway at 5252 Miller Rd., which is being remodeled.
Approved site plans that are awaiting construction drawings include the Juvenile Detention Center on Pasadena Ave.; Culver’s, 4034 Miller Rd.; House of Axes, 4371 Torrey Rd.; Serv Pro, on Lennon east of Dutcher; Professional Auto Body, 6307 Corunna Rd. (new storage building); and parking changes at 3027 S. Linden Rd.
Other projects that have completed planning commission review include Gordon Food Services (remodel); McAlister’s Deli, 4034 Miller Rd.; and Camping Word at the old Frank’s Nursery location.
Tucker said there are prospective projects under consideration by developers at Lowe’s, the airport property on Linden Road, a parcel on Torrey Road, the Sear’s property, Maple Road property near Barrett’s, the old Sears parts building and vacant land next to Curbco.
