Township hires new police officer



FLINT TWP. — At its Monday night meetings, the Township Board of Trustees voted unaminously to hire Christopher Weber as an entry level police officer, contingent on his successful completion of all pre-employment exams.

Currently employed by the Oscoda Police Department, Weber is from the Flushing area and his parents still live there, Police Chief George Sippert told the board. Weber will fill a position opened by the passing of Charles Abdella and already budgeted into the 2011 police budget.

Weber holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice form Western Michigan University and an associate’s degree in criminal justice from Mott Community College, according to background information Sippert provided to the board. He also is a graduate of the Delta Police Academy and a licensed police officer in Michigan by the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement

Standards. He has worked in Oscoda for 19 months.
