FLINT TWP. — Flint Township took part in National Voter Registration Day (NVRD) on September 26. The event was one of approximately 2,000 Voter Registration drives held across the nation that day.
“We register voters Monday through Thursday from 8 am to 5:30 pm,” said Clerk Kathy Funk. “It was fun to celebrate the importance of voting with others across the nation.”
Funk and Elections Specialist Angie Thygesen had stickers and cookies available to registrants. “It was low-key as this is considered an ‘off election’ year,” Funk said. “Next year with a November gubernatorial election, we plan to have quite a celebration on NVRD.”
While there is a November 7 election taking place, it is only for Flint Township voters residing in the Flushing School District which has a bond proposal question on the ballot. Requested absentee ballots have been mailed and some returned.
“Those not registered and who are eligible to vote for the Flushing bond proposal have until October 10 to register,” Funk said.
