Township sets public hearing on issuance of industrial facilities exemption certificate

FLINT TWP. — The Flint Township Board of Trustees will hold a public hearing regarding the issuance of an Industrial Facilities Exemption Certificate 7 p.m. Feb. 7 at its regular board meeting.

The board touched on the topic at its Jan. 24 meeting, which focuses on the establishment of an Industrial Development District of property, known as Cooper Commercial Group — Hougen Manufacturing. The township established this district on Oct. 23, 1995.

The purpose of the public hearing is for the board to hear from residents and taxpayers of Flint Township on each taxing unit which levies ad valorem taxes within the district, and any other resident or taxpayer of the township regarding the petition of Hougen Manufacturing. Hougen Manufacturing is requesting the issuance of an Industrial Facilities Exemption Certificate.

After the public hearing, the Board of Trustees will then vote on approval of a letter of agreement between Hougen Manufacturing and Flint Township.
