BURTON — The driver of a delivery truck had a close call Aug. 24 when he lost control of his vehicle and left I-69, crashing into a swampy area west of Kelly Lake.
According to reports, the driver is expected to recover after suffering a minor medical emergency while driving an Aunt Millie’s bread truck eastbound on I-69. The incident caused him to veer off the roadway and he ended up in “murky waters” near Lake Kelly Park, 4345 Lapeer Rd.
Police were called to the scene at about 10:15 a.m. to the report of a person in the water, according to reports. The truck left the roadway and travelled about 200 yards before it ended up in the water near the lake.
The driver was taken to a local hospital for evaluation. Two lanes of eastbound I-69 were temporarily closed.
