FLINT — Try college for a day – for FREE! Mott Community College (MCC) is hosting MCC4Free, a community-wide open house, May 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. all over the main campus in Flint.
Come, experience college for a day through dozens of mini-sessions taught by MCC faculty. Register online at www.mcc.edu/mcc4free
Topics include Casino Mathematics (the probability of winning and losing), Heart Anatomy (try you’re your hand at dissection!), Photography (how to take better pictures), Parenting Teens (a survival guide), Music Technology (how to mix it up!), the History of Japan, Early Childhood (activities to offset lead exposure), Open Art Studio, Physical Education (kettle bells and how to use them), Weird Michigan, Spanish, and more.
If you want to learn more about college and how to be successful in college, there will be mini-sessions for that too, including how to apply, financial aid info, study tips, and Workforce Development career pathways.
“We wanted to give prospective students and the community-at-large a taste of college, to better understand what we have to offer,” said Carla Clark, Academic Outreach Coordinator. “And we also wanted to give current students a chance to explore subjects they are interested in before signing up for a full class. It is a great opportunity for everyone to explore their interests and learn more about MCC.”
In addition to mini college classes, there will be giveaways, refreshments and a chance to win a scholarship to MCC (available to the class of 2017 and current students only).
