LANSING — Carman-Ainsworth qualified two siblings for this week’s Div. 1 state bowling tournament.
Quinton Burnett placed second in the boys’ competition and sister Quinisha Burnett was fifth among girls in last Saturday’s regional tournament at Pro Bowl. Quinton totaled 1,241 to finish 72 pins behind champion Tylor Greene of Davison. Quinisha bowled 1,118 in her six-game block. The top 10 individuals advanced to this Saturday’s state finals at M-66 Bowl in Battle Creek.
Neither Carman-Ainsworth team made Friday’s team tourney, as both placed seventh in the regional, the boys totaling 3,754 and the girls 3,155. Only the top three teams advance to state.
Brandy Fay missed qualifying by 62 pins, as she finished 16th with 1,016. Kassidy Lord, Danielle Sims and Kenzey Lord were grouped together at 903, 902 and 897, respectively. Freshman Bernadette Gruber bowled 707.
For the boys, freshman DeQuincy Adams bowled 1,028, while Cameron Wright came in with 1,012. Parker Zellar, Julian McClean and Ray Golden finished in a pack at 932, 924 and 916, respectively. — D.N.
