FLINT – Mott Community College (MCC) Dental Assisting and Hygiene Coordinators Drs. Denise Polk and Sue Weiss were inducted into the International College of Dentists (ICD) Nov. 6 at the American Dental Association Annual Session in Washington, D.C. The International College of Dentists is the honorary organization of dentists who have demonstrated an abiding interest and concern for their communities and the profession.
Fellowship in the International College of Dentists indicates that the individual has brought credit to the profession through devoted service and high ethical behavior. Approximately four percent of American dentists are offered Fellowship in the ICD with more than 6,000 members in the USA section and approximately 11,000 total members internationally.
“To be recognized by your colleagues as a member worthy of such a title is the most satisfying achievement one could receive,” said Polk.
“I am humbled and honored to have received membership in this outstanding organization,” she said. Polk has been with MCC for 27, serving as Program coordinator for the past three years. Weiss echoed Polk’s comments adding “I feel very honored to receive this recognition.” Weiss has been with MCC for 18 years, serving as Program coordinator for the past five years, “I hope that in my position at Mott I have encouraged and mentored students to enjoy the profession of dentistry as much as I have,” she added. — G.G.
