Twp. fire department parking lot repairs

FLINT TWP.— The township board has given the fire department approval to seek bids for repairing the parking lots at Fire Station No. 1 on Reuben Street and Fire Station No. 2 on Flushing Road.

“There are several large areas needing to be removed and replaced,” said Flint Township Fire Chief John Ringwelski, in a written request. He did not attend the meeting.

“We will also put a new cement pad at our Station #2 on Flushing Road to relocate the dumpster,’’ he said. “This will eliminate the need for a garbage truck to drive on the new asphalt.”

Mike Pifer, an engineer, has been consulted about creating specs for the work, he said. After receiving the specs, the jobs will be put out for bids and those will come back before the board for approval.

Ringwelski also noted there are funds in the fire department’s budget to pay for the work.

Photos he submitted with the request show areas of badly cracked up asphalt and several potholes.
