United Way provides assistance after tornado

FLINT — United Way of Genesee County, serving Genesee and Shiawassee Counties, will be providing a $20,000 emergency assistance grant to the American Red Cross of Mid-Michigan and East Central Bay Chapters.

The grant will allow the American Red Cross to assist with basic needs for those affected by the recent severe weather. Individuals affected by the recent tornado should contact the Red Cross for assistance.

If community members would like to contribute, United Way of Genesee County will also be accepting monetary donations to assist with the basic needs of families affected by the March 14 tornado and severe weather.

No administrative fees will be taken from these designated funds. Checks should be made out to United Way of Genesee County Tornado Relief Fund. Donations are also accepted online at www.unitedwaygenesee.org/civicrm/ contribute/transact?reset=1&id=39.
