Upcoming events at For-mar Nature Preserve



• Nov. 19 — The Webelos Scouting Outing. Scientists will join other Webelo Troops for a program that is just for you. Enjoy meeting your other Webelos and wearing you scientist badge. This event is for children ages 7 to 12 and children must be accompanied by an adult. The Scouting Outing will last from 9:30-11 a.m. and will cost $3 per child. Registration is required by Nov. 17 at 810-736- 7100 x6. There is a minimum of four required and a maximum of 40.

• Nov. 19 — The Webelos Scouting Outing picks up again at 1 p.m. and will last until 2:30 p.m. Earn your Scientist badge and meet other Webelos. Again, the cost is $3 per child, the event is for children ages 7 to 12 and all children are to be accompanied by an adult. Registration is required by Nov. 17 at 810-736-7100 x6. There is a minimum of four required and a maximum of 40.

• Nov. 25 — Growing Gardeners: “Seeds at any Season” from 10-11:30 a.m. Don’t let the freezing temperatures put you into garden hibernation, start seeds at anytime. This is an event for ages 7-12 and adults must accompany children.

Registration is required by Nov. 23 at 810-736-7100 x6. There is a minimum of four and a maximum of 30.

• Nov. 26 — Post-Turkey Trot: A chance to get out and exercise after the “turkey day” feast. All events will be led by For-Mar staff and will include a variety of events. The Jake Jamboree, which is a fun, interactive hike for preschoolers will take place at 1 p.m. At 2 p.m. The Flock Frolic, hiking scavenger hunt for the entire family will begin. Finally, The Turkey Trot, which is a jogging experience for teens and adults to For-Mar’s turkey roosting area and back, will start at 3 p.m. The Post-Turkey Trot is for all ages, children must be accompanied by an adult, and the cost is free. There is no pre-registration required, although organized groups are asked to call ahead at 810-736-7100 x6. There is a minimum of four required and a maximum of 40.

• Nov. 30 — The Knee-High Naturalist’s “Winter’s Coming” event arrives. This is a chance to learn how animals, such as bears, prepare for winter. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is required by Nov. 28 at 810-736-7100 x6. There is a minimum of four required and a maximum of 20.

• Nov. 30 — Wild adventures ‘Earthquake!’ event: Children, ages 7-10 can learn about the processes that change the face of the Earth. Children must be accompanied by an adult. The cost will be $3 per child and the event will last from 10-11:30 a.m. Registration is required by Nov. 29 at 810-736-7100 x6.
