Oct. 2 — F.A.N.s (Family Adventures
in Nature): Harvest Festival

For-Mar’s annual celebration of the harvest season! Hay wagon rides through the arboretum and preserve, activities and crafts for children, cider and doughnuts for sale, apple cider making, and old fashioned children’s games and a mystery trail walk. You can bring an already carved pumpkin and enter it to win a prize. For families, all ages. Time: 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Cost: FREE! Registration not required, but organized groups are asked to call ahead.

Oct. 6 — Knee-High Naturalist: Rocks
and Rock Collecting

Collect and do simple tests to identify rocks. Start a rock collection. For children, ages 3-6. Time: 10-11:30 a.m. Cost: $3 per child. Registration required by Oct. 4.

Oct. 9 — Native Alternatives

Many exotic plants have been introduced into Michigan, and some of them are now considered invasive. For every introduced species, Michigan has a native that works just as well. Learn what natives can do for your landscape. For adults, ages 16 and older. Time: 10 a.m.–noon. Cost: $7 per person. Registration recommended, but not required.

for individuals with cognitive disabilities.

Enjoy activities that highlight autumn colors. Make and taste fresh apple cider. For individuals with cognitive disabilities. Time: 10:30 a.m.-noon. Cost: $2 per person. Registration required by Oct. 7.

Dinosaur Dig!

Go on a “dinosaur dig” as we learn about these ancient reptiles. For children, ages 3-6. Time: 10-11:30 a.m. Cost: $3 per child. Registration required by Oct. 11.
