FLINT — A familiar orange logo will soon be visiting people’s homes as the Flint Fresh Mobile Market kicks off its Veggie Box Program. Flint Fresh will now deliver boxes of fresh local produce to homes and businesses in the city of Flint.
Starting now through May 17, customers can purchase a produce box in two sizes to be delivered the week of May 22. Boxes can be ordered online at FlintFresh.com or by calling 810-620- 1902. The Veggie Box is one program offered by Flint Fresh whose mission is to provide affordable and easily accessible healthy food stuffs to the people of the Flint community.
“As a busy mom of two young children, I personally know how difficult it is to buy fresh produce in the city,” said Jill Groves, Veggie Box Coordinator and Mobile Market Administrator. “By offering a veggie box that can be delivered to people’s home or work we are reducing many of the barriers people face when trying to eat healthy.”
“Our Mobile Market has been visiting schools, hospitals, and community centers across the city,” said Erin Caudell, Vice President of the Board of Directors of Flint Fresh Mobile Market, “but we continued to hear from people who were home bound or parents with small children who found it hard to visit the market. With the Mobile Market and now the Veggie Box program, we are making it easier for people in Flint can have access to healthy food.”
