FLINT — Vertigo Theatrics will perform the Neil Simon play “God’s Favorite” Jan. 21-22, 28–30 at the Historic Masonic Temple in downtown Flint.
Successful Long Island businessman Joe Benjamin is a modern-day ‘Job’ with a high-maintenance wife, ungrateful children and wise-cracking household help. Just when it seems things couldn’t get any worse, he is visited by Sidney Lipton aka A Messenger from God (and compulsive film buff) with a mission: Test Joe’s faith and report back to “the Boss”. The jokes and Tests of Faith fly fast and furious as Neil Simon spins a contemporary morality tale like no other in this hilarious comedy.
The cast consists of Mark Bonto of Flint (Joe Benjamin), Jacque Valley of Birch Run (Rose Benjamin), Shane McNicol of Flint (Sydney Lipton), Matt Szukhent of Flint (David Benjamin), Ben Segal of Flint (Ben Benjamin), Danielle Curavo of Flint (Sarah Benjamin), Larry Stecco of Flushing (Morris) and Jessica Eldridge of Burton (Mady). They will portray the wealthy, dysfunctional family’s trials in this humorous “riches to rags” story.
