BURTON — In honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, volunteers gathered at the Genesee County Humane Society for its “Give a Day, Make a Difference” event.

During the event, which ran from noon-3 p.m., volunteers worked on various projects throughout the Humane Society, such as cleaning out the mechanic’s room, making catnip toys, putting away Christmas items, painting adoption rooms and more.

“Special thanks to U of M staff and students, and FedEx employees for helping out,” said Terry Rozyla- Ashley, volunteer coordinator/humane educator.

The Genesee County Humane Society is located 3325 S. Dort Hwy. For more information, including adoptable pets, call 810-744-0511 or visit www.geneseehumane.org.
