Voters renew Flushing Schools millages




FLINT TWP. — Voters in the Flushing School District overwhelmingly approved two millage renewals on the August 4 ballot.

Voters were asked to renew for five years an operating millage and a building and site sinking fund.

With all precincts reporting, the final tally was 1,804 to 614 – 74.61 percent in favor of the operating millage renewal and 1,728 to 688 – 71.52 percent in favor of the building and site sinking fund, according to unofficial results from the Genesee County Elections Office.

The 18 mill operating millage becomes effective July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2021 and is expected to generate revenues of $2,029,678 during the 2016 calendar year, according to ballot language. The current operating millage will expire on June 30, 2016.

The building and site sinking fund millage renewal — effective July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2021 – is estimated to generate revenues of $469,978 during the 2016 calendar year.
