GRAND BLANC — Former Grand Blanc City Councilman Jamie Weasel has returned to the council table.
Councilmembers appointed Weasel to fill a vacancy created by the resignation of Councilwoman Lisa Blondell.
Blondell, who moved out of the city, resigned effective Nov. 20.
“Lisa has a been a stalwart councilperson for seven years,” said Mayor Susan Soderstrom. “She has been an asset to the community, and I wish her nothing but the best going forward.”
“It has been an honor and privilege to serve the City of Grand Blanc,” Blondell wrote in her resignation letter. “I am so proud of all we have accomplished over the last several years, and I have no doubt the council will continue these successes in the future.”
Weasel’s appointment is effective through the November 2021 election, at which time Weasel will have to seek election if he wishes to retain his seat on council.
“He is a valuable city resident,” said Soderstrom. “Those who haven’t worked with Jamie before, I’m sure will enjoy his leadership and his contributions.”
Weasel first was appointed to the City Council in September 2016 following the resignation of Pam Gillies, and ran unopposed in November 2017. He resigned in January 2019 citing increased personal responsibilities and lack of time to serve.
Weasel also served as assistant director of the city’s Parks and Recreation Department for about 18 years.
