— Since opening its doors two years ago in the Carriage Plaza, Westec Security Network has provided residential and commercial customers with a variety of options of protection.
Owned by Barry Kelley, Westec Security recently relocated to a new office at 8048 Miller Rd., Suite D, approximately one year ago. Kelley, a resident of Durand, said he decided to initially open and maintain his business in Swartz Creek after living in the city for years.
“My wife and kids are Swartz Creek graduates and I was a volunteer firefighter for 10 years,” he said. “We want people to know that we are committed to Swartz Creek.”
Westec Security Network targets residential and business customers, offering a wide range of low-voltage security options. The business also does closed circuit TV (CCTV) and security systems in the medical realm for senior citizens.
“We pretty much do everything,” Kelley said.
Westec Security, which is the only business of its nature in the Swartz Creek area, is an authorized dealer for Safe Home Security, Inc., and is licensed and insured by the state of Michigan. Residential customer business is the company’s largest sector, making up approximately 75 percent of Westec’s business.
“We are a small company and try to keep it family-oriented,” Kelley said. “We’re also the only alarm company out there where we say ‘free’ and offer a free system. There is no activation charge and no charge for the equipment. All we ask is for a three-year contract.”
The three-year contract breaks down to $29.95 a month. “We’ve got a lot of companies beat on price,” he said. “If someone says they found a cheaper price, we’ll match it or beat it.”
Currently, Westec Security Network is offering specials to its customers. For residential customers, Westec offers two outdoor cameras with a DVR and complete installation for $800. For commercial customers, Westec offers a closed circuit camera surveillance system, plus free installation, starting at $3.30 a day. The company also offers a free loss prevention evaluation for commercial customers.
One thing Westec Security prides itself on is the high level of customer service. “Sales is open 24/7 and if you call the number, you’ll get somebody on the phone,” Kelley said.
Along with Kelley, the company has John D. Besso, sales manager. Kelley recently hired sales staff, but is looking to hire more individuals for sales positions. “We’re always hiring for sales. The more the merrier,” he said. Kelley also is looking to hire installers and telemarketers.
Westec Security Network’s office hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday. For more information, stop by the business or call 810-635-7700.
