Pastor Sean Kennedy (in red) of Cornerstone Baptist Church leads a small group in prayer on Thursday, May 6, at the Swartz Creek Veterans Memorial. The first Thursday of May is designated as National Day of Prayer, a time when Americans of all faiths are encouraged to gather together in prayer and meditation. The Congressional action formally enacting National Day of Prayer dates back to 1952, but the tradition dates to 1775.
