BURTON — VIEW Newspapers would like to welcome Lyn An Whitson to the sales team.
Whitson, a Davison resident, came on board April 17 as an advertising sales consultant, specializing in the Burton area.
“My favorite thing about advertising is that I get to work one on one with my customers to help them meet their advertising needs,” Whitson said. “I look forward to working in the Burton area and I plan on working closely with the Burton Chamber of Commerce.”
Whitson’s work experience includes 34 years at the Flint Journal in classified advertising.
“I was a sales executive specializing in real estate. I sold both print and online advertising,” she said. “I enjoy the opportunity to get out and meet my customers face to face.”
Whitson is on the board of directors for the Davison Chamber of Commerce, serves as the chair for the Chamber’s Hospitality Committee and is a member of the Women’s Council of Realtors. She was named the 2011 Affiliate Member of the Year. She also works with Jan Lebert from Outreach East doing social media notifications, Thunder for Hunger, raffles, the duck race and more. She also works in the soup kitchen and helps with other events at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Flint.
Married to Tony for 28 years, Whitson is mother to two, three if you count her yellow lab, Lily, whom her children claim is her favorite, and grandmother to one. In her spare time, she loves to travel, cheer on the Detroit Red Wings and play slots at the casino.
“I am very happy to be part of the View Newspaper Group,” she said. “I feel strongly that people love to read their home town news. The View Papers do a great job covering community events, school events, sporting events and news. I look forward to being a part of that.”
“I think adding Lyn to our team is a real coup for View Newspapers and our customers,” said Karen Fitzgerald, director of advertising. “Her experience in advertising, her community roots and her positive attitude will be appreciated by our advertisers. Lyn is well known in Genesee County and will be a real asset to her customers in helping them make their advertising and marketing decisions.”
