Who saw that outcome for the Lions

Fat Guy Corner

The silly Motown Kitty Kats, aka the Detroit Lions. You never know what to expect, do you? The pupil defeating the teacher? I didn’t see it coming! I can tell you that right now. All Lions fans expected the Tom Brady Show to annihilate the lowly 0-2 Detroit Lions. The slaughter was going to be just how many points the Patriots were going to hang on the Lions on Sunday Night Football. If anyone guessed that it would be a measly 10 points, they are Urban “Ohio State” Liars!

The Lions needed this victory in the worst way if they have any shot of making the playoffs. I am not saying they will, but the team has to believe that or why even play the games?

Let’s move on to how bad Minnesota looked against the Buffalo Bills. And, the Green Bay Packers’ defense is absolutely terrible and the Washington Redskins whipped them.

There is no team in the NFL that relies on one player more than the Packers do with Aaron Rodgers. If he suffers another injury like last season, the Packers are toast. The Bears are improved, but no better than the Lions, in my eyes. The Chicago defense is pretty damn good, but the quarterback is not very good yet.

The Lions saved their season for sure and at least made the fans happy for this week, including me. The Patriots look like a team on the serious decline offensively and the defense is suspect at best. Will the Lions gain confidence after winning a prime-time home game, or revert to the same old Lions next Sunday in Dallas? The fact that the Lions had a 100-yard rusher for the first time since Reggie Bush some 70 games ago was a positive. The rookie running back, Kerryon Johnson, looked good and the 101 yards also looked good. The Lions need to go down to Dallas and take care of business, as this Dallas Cowboys team is not very good. If the Lions’ defense stops the running of Ezkiel Elliot it will come out with the victory. I am not on the bandwagon, nor am I drinking the Lions’ blue Kool Aid, but I think they win in Dallas. The cheeseball says Lions Love 24 and No Dak Attack 20.

Hats off to Tiger Woods

The Tiger Woods drought is over after he broke a five-year drought to win his 80th PGA Tour win. The FedEx Cup title went to Justin Rose and $10 million I might add, which is a large chunk of change! However, the spotlight was on Tiger Woods, who after four surgeries and basically not playing golf for two years, triumphed on the golf course. The ratings on Sunday were fabulous and it was the mostwatched golf tournament other than the majors here in 2018. The fact that Tiger is still such a tremendous draw on television amazes me. Tiger Woods brings in the golf fans; that is a fact.

The Ryder Cup is up next for golf fans.

Big wins for MSU, U-M

The Michigan Wolverines and Michigan State Spartans opened up Big Ten play with victories Saturday. The Spartans went down to Indiana and came away with a 35-21 win. It wasn’t Halloween, but the Spartans had plenty of tricks, which included a fake field goal for a touchdown. The Spartans will now take on neighbor Central Michigan at high noon in East Lansing Saturday. The Spartans should roll in this one to about a four or five touchdown victory.

The Wolverines rolled the Nebraska Cornhuskers 56-10, including a 39-0 halftime lead. This game was over before it started, as the rushing attack accounted for 285 yards. The Wolverines will play the Northwestern Wildcats on the road and kick off is set for 4:30 p.m. This game could be a tough one, as Northwestern is always a tough out at home. I like the Wolverines to win this game. The cheeseball says Go Blue 30 and Non Wildcats 20.
