Winners in county races from Nov. 3 election

GENESEE COUNTY — There were no surprises or upsets in the election of county officials in the Nov. 3 general election.

Sheriff Chris Swanson (D) received the most votes in the race for sheriff, beating out challenger Stephen Sanford (R) by a vote of 150,785-64,718.

In the race for County Clerk/Register of Deeds, John Gleason (D) held onto his seat against opponent Jesse Couch (R) by a vote of 126,741-85,593.

For treasurer, Democratic incumbent Deborah Cherry beat Republican candidate Deborah Hoss (R) by a vote of 124,122- 86,527.

In the races for county commission, the winners were as follows:

3rd District: Ellen Ellenburg (D) – 12,375 votes

5th District: Mark Young (D) – 14,712 votes

7th District: Meredith Davis (R) – 13,600 votes

8th District: Debra Newman (D) – 14,029 votes

9th District: Gary Peppin (D) – 13,728 votes

In the races for judge positions around the county, here were the results:

7th District Circuit Court (Non-Incumbent): Chris Christenson – 100,733 votes

67th-2B District Court Judge: Jessica Hammon – 20,988 votes

67th-5A District Court Judge: Tabitha Marsh – 19,246 votes
