Woman charged in shooting at Big Lots

FLINT TWP. — A 34-year-old Flint woman was arraigned Friday, charged with nine felony counts in connection with a Christmas Eve shooting at Big Lots store.

Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton issued charges against Shaundrica Quantez. She is charged with nine felony counts including felonious assault, being a felon in possession of both a firearm and ammunition, discharging a firearm in a building and four counts of felony firearm.

According to police reports, Lay was inside the Big Lots store around 1:30 p.m., Dec. 24 when she was approached by another female customer she knew and with whom she had an ongoing dispute.

Words were exchanged between the two and Lay pulled out a gun and fired one shot. No one was injured in the shooting.

Lay was arraigned on the charges in 67th District Court. — By Gary Gould
