FLINT TWP. — A 33-year-old female and her 10-year-old son were wounded in a drive-way shooting last week.
On June 28, at approximately 3:57 pm, Flint Township Police officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 4200 block of Calkins Rd. between Graham Rd. and Linden Rd. Responding officers located the two victims in the parking lot of Genesee Gardens, 4495 Calkins Rd. They were passengers in a GMC Yukon that was traveling westbound on Calkins Rd., driven by a 30-year-old Flint Township man.
Officers learned that the occupant(s) of a white four-door sedan traveling westbound on Calkins Rd. passed the Yukon in the 4200 block. While passing the Yukon, occupant(s) of the sedan fired multiple gunshots into the Yukon. The driver of the Yukon continued to Genesee Gardens. The driver of the Yukon initially left Genesee Gardens before officers arrived, but he later returned to speak with investigators.
The injured woman and her son, who were passengers in the SUV, suffered gunshot wounds and were transported to a local hospital. The female remains in critical condition and the male is in stable condition.
Flint Township Police were assisted by the Michigan State Police, Genesee County Sheriff’s Office and Clayton Township Police Department.
