FLINT — Mott Community College’s Fine Arts Gallery in the Visual Arts and Design Center will present an exhibition of work by Dustin Price, Full-Time Instructor of Art and Design at Mott Community College, titled Calm Abiding.
His work will be in the gallery through Oct. 29. In addition, Price will give a public presentation about his work on Oct. 16 at noon in the Visual Arts and Design Center, room 129.
These events, made possible in part by the Ballenger Trust, are free and open to the public.
Dustin Price received an MFA from Washington State University, Pullman, Wash. and a BS from Black Hills State University in Spearfish, S.D. His selected exhibitions include 605 Artists, Ruddell Gallery at Black Hills State University, 2013; Tilting at Windmills, Porter Butts Gallery, University of Wisconsin, Madison, Wis. 2012; and Young Dakota Artists, Lincoln Gallery, Northern State University, Aberdeen, S.D., 2011. His work for this exhibition includes graphite, digital print drawings, hand cut found paper, found objects and an engine grease drawing.
His artist statement reads in part: “My work is an investigation of the direct correlations between the act of contemplation, discourse, spirituality, labor, emotional stillness, and the creation or experiencing of my work. My process often involves a repetitive, physical act in search of self-dissolution and meditation. During this repetitive process, I conceptually and aesthetically consider topics involving the way to questions that cannot be answered, but I believe that attempting to understand these questions is often just as significant as answering them.”
The Fine Arts Gallery is located in the Visual Arts and Design Center on the Mott Community College main campus, located at 1401 E. Court St. in Flint. Gallery hours are 9 am until 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The public is always welcome.
