Works of MCC Sculpture Professor Cate Smith to be featured through April 19

FLINT — Mott Community College’s Fine Arts Gallery in the Visual Arts and Design Center will present an exhibition of work by Mott Community College Sculpture Professor Cate Smith, titled Thinking Objects.

Her work will be in the gallery through April 19. In addition, Smith will give a public presentation about her work on April 13 at 1:30 p.m. in the Visual Arts and Design Center, room 129.

These events, made possible in part by The Ballenger Trust, are free and open to the public.

Cate Smith is currently Professor of Sculpture, Three Dimensional Design and Drawing at Mott Community College. She received a BA in Studio Art, Windom College, Putney, Vermont; Post Baccalaureate Certificate, Sculpture and an MFA, Sculpture, School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

She has exhibited her work both locally and nationally, including Lost and Found, Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, Ill.; Surfaces, Project Gallery, Ann Arbor, Mich., 4th Annual Sculpture Invitational, Krasl Art Museum, St. Joseph, Mich. and Michigan Sculptors, Frederic Meijer Gardens, Grand Rapids, among many others.

The Fine Arts Gallery is located in the Visual Arts and Design Center on the Mott Community College main campus, located at 1401 E. Court St. Gallery hours are 9 a.m.- 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The public is always welcome.
