World Class Bar B-Q donating proceeds to area soup kitchens

FLINT — Before they pack up their grills for the winter, World Class Bar- B-Q, located on North Saginaw Street at Pierson Road in Flint, is offering one last taste of barbecue.

Sept. 4-7, the business will be donating its proceeds to Catholic Charities three Soup Kitchens. Stop in from 11 a.m.-11 p.m. each day, for tender brisket, chicken smothered in a special-blend “World Class Bar-B-Q” sauce, as well as smoked ribs, rubbed with choice spices and premium herbs.

New this year, smoked turkey legs will be added to the menu! Donations are still needed to help cover the start-up cost of this event. Individuals or businesses who would like to donate supplies or make monetary contributions can call Dave Burton at 810-394-0314.

“As funding sources decrease, our community has stepped in to host fundraisers and food drives,” says Vicky Schultz, president and CEO of Catholic Charities. “We are so grateful to World Class Bar- B-Q, and all those who have volunteered to help those in need. Without the generosity of our friends and neighbors, we wouldn’t be able to continue to serve those who come to us for help.”

A full menu of BBQ will be available for takeout during this event. Most menu items range from $5 for a polish sausage, to $21 for an amazing full-slab of BBQ ribs, a variety that makes it convenient to stop by to pick up a quick lunch, or dinner for the family on the way home.

All proceeds from this benefit weekend will help offset budget cuts and loss of funding to Catholic Charities’ North End, Holy Angels and South Flint Soup Kitchens. Through these programs, more than 157,000 meals were provided last year to Genesee County residents in need.

World Class Bar-B-Q has been serving the Flint area for more than 16 years, and has been the recipient of many awards at BBQ competitions across the state.

Catholic Charities of Shiawassee and Genesee counties has been Providing Help and Creating Hope for those in need since 1941, serving all people regardless of faith or background.
