The World Series is set to begin Tuesday night between the Tampa Bay Rays and L.A. Dodgers.
The Tampa Bay representing the American League, won a tough fought seven game series over the “Garbage Can Bangers” from Houston. The Rays, up 3-0 on the Astros, tried to blow the series but rallied to get the job done. The Tampa Bay team really struggled at the dish (hitting) the baseball. The only player red hot at the plate was Randy Arozarena, who put on a hitting clinic in the series. It really seemed like every time he came to the plate he delivered a base hit or home run. I can tell you this — without him the Tampa Bay Rays lose the series for sure. The Rays bullpen was not as dominant as I thought they would be in this series. The Rays are moving on and the L.A. Dodgers are who they have to beat to win the World Series.
The L.A. Dodgers completed a tremendous comeback against the Atlanta Braves, who were up 3-1 over the L.A. Dodgers. The Atlanta Braves base running was atrocious in two games and it cost them the series, in my opinion. The Braves had the pitching rotation set up to win and still could not get it done.
The Dodgers will have a distinct advantage in the World Series over Tampa Bay with the way they can hit the baseball. The starting pitching nod goes to the Dodgers. The bullpen nod goes to the Rays. The fat guy prediction: The Dodgers in six games over the Rays. However, I hope I am wrong as I will be pulling for the Rays to win.
The first big time college game was played Saturday night and Alabama steam rolled the Georgia Bulldogs in the second half.
The Alabama Crimson Tide will once again be a tough out in college football this season. I think the Clemson Tigers is the class of college football so far, however.
The Big Ten season finally fires up this weekend and I am glad. The Big Ten panicked and shut down the season way too soon, but it’s now here thank you very much. The season starts Friday night with Illinois at Wisconsin at 8 p.m. on the Big Ten Network.
The Michigan State Spartans get a nice easy opening game with Rutgers at home. The kickoff is at noon on the Big Ten Network. The Spartans should roll this horrible Rutgers team.
The Michigan Wolverines will travel to Minnesota for a night game with kick off slated for 7:30 p.m. on ABC. This game will feature two teams ranked in the top 25 with Michigan at No. 18 and Minnesota at No. 21. I cannot even begin to tell you who will win this football game to be honest. I hope it’s Michigan, but my man P.J. Fleck, the coach at Minnesota, will have his football team ready for Michigan. I know I will not miss Michigan quarterback Shea Patterson, that’s for sure. I believe the new quarterback will be Joe Milton for Michigan. The Big Ten season is here FINALLY!
The Lions went down to Jacksonville and took care of the Jaguars 34-16. The Lions actually did what you’re supposed to do and that is beat a football team that stinks.
I loved seeing the rookie D’Andre Swift tote the rock 14 times for 116 yards and two touchdowns. The rookie looked good and this is why the Lions drafted the kid. I seriously thought to myself, if the Lions lose to Jacksonville Matt Patricia was going to be fired on Monday morning. The Lions victory spared pencil head his job in my opinion.
The Lions will now travel to Atlanta to take on the pitiful Falcons. The Falcons picked up their first win this past Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings. The Lions are the better team but will lose this game on Sunday. I think Matt Ryan picks apart the Lions secondary. The prediction: Atlanta 34 and Detroit 30.
