MUNDY TWP. — Nearly 1,100 guests attended the 30th annual World’s Greatest Office Party on Thursday, Dec. 4 at the Holiday Inn Gateway Centre, which raised a new record of $70,000, according to a press release.
All proceeds directly benefit Whaley Children’s Center’s (WCC) nationally accredited residential and clinical programs for children who have suffered from abuse and neglect.
“We’re extremely thrilled to have hit a new record this year, beating last year’s record by almost $10,000,” said Katrina Khouri, WCC director of development. “We honestly could not have done this without the wonderful support of our community, including our numerous sponsors, committee members, volunteers, donors and vendors.”
The World’s Greatest Office Party is one of three major annual fundraisers WCC hosts to help fill the gap between federal funding and their annual operating budget.
This year’s Roaring 20s themed-event featured a silent auction and various raffles, such as the Medawar Champagne Raffle, Vic Canever Chevrolet Wildcard Super Raffle, and Heads or Tails. Entertainment included live performances by Mel Ball and Colours, DJ ChaChi from Liquid Entertainment, DJ Ben Baker, DJ Art Lenoir and the Detroit Circus.
“The World’s Greatest Office Party is a great place to catch up with old friends, meet new people and support a good cause. People have already told us that they can’t wait for next year,” said Abbey Smith, WCC development and event coordinator. — R.S.
