Year-long grudge leads to assault at fair

GRAND BLANC — Police say retaliation for an assault that occurred one year ago likely prompted a fight at the Grand Blanc Fun Fest.

A security guard on the grounds flagged down police around 7 p.m. on Friday, June 11, in reference to two juvenile males who had been assaulted by a group of other juvenile males, according to Grand Blanc Police Detective Ryan Rouse.

During the initial investigation, officers detained a couple of suspects who later were released after police determined they were not involved in the assault, Rouse said.

“Officers did find that this assault was in retaliation to an assault from a year ago,” he said.

The victim refused medical treatment by EMS on scene but went to an area hospital on his own to have doctors check his injuries.

Rouse said no other assault reports were made to police. — L.R.
