YWCA Greater Flint Collaborates with 7th Circuit Court on Personal Protection Orders

FLINT — The YWCA Greater Flint and 7th Circuit Court are working together to ensure victims of intimate partner violence and sexual assault are able to file a request for a Personal Protection Order (PPO) during the Stay Home, Stay Safe Executive Order.

Victims are encouraged to access the PPO forms on www.michiganlegalhelp.org and follow the procedure below:

For those who can print the paperwork, print and sign the request.

For those who can scan the paperwork, email the form to Melissa Caldwell at melissacaldwell@ywcaflint.org.

For those who cannot scan the paperwork, bring the signed form to the YWCA Greater Flint at 801 S. Saginaw Street in Flint, Monday – Friday between 9 a.m.–4 p.m.

Individuals who do not have access to the internet should call the YWCA Greater Flint Crisis Line at 810-238- SAFE (7233), Monday – Friday between 9 a.m.–4 p.m. and ask to speak with a victim advocate.

Once the YWCA receives a Personal Protection Order request, the forms will be sent to 7th Circuit Court for a decision that will be made within 24 hours.

A YWCA Victim Advocate will contact the person requesting the Personal Protection Order with the decision from the court. — G.G.
